Three partners, an incubator and a great idea - to create an anti-counterfeiting and anti-fraud digital platform to certify the authenticity of documents and products on sale both in real stores and online.
The Cryptobrand project is the most ambitious of those being incubated by Speed Mi Up. This startup is working on an anti-counterfeiting and anti-fraud digital platform to certify the authenticity of documents and products on sale both in real stores and online. They have already made a working prototype, obtained an Italian patent and are awaiting a European one.
Cryptobrand offers brands a new anti-fraud service to protect documents and products, while enabling final consumers to do a simple authenticity check using a special App on their Smartphone. The service is made possible by a specially developed digital platform and method of labelling documents/products, using recently introduced enabling technologies.

The idea came to Roberto Pittia from his experience working on electronic storage of documents and digital signatures. Massimiliano Rizzo was brought in, through a mutual friend, for his experience in online companies such as Yoox. Today the former is working 100% on the project, the latter 50%. The platform would be useful for certifying the authenticity of all kinds of documents (road tax, bank drafts, residence permits, invoices, postal payment slips, employee income statements) and could track the physical movements of products, guaranteeing their authenticity based also on their position. Pittia and partners are looking for a couple of organisations willing to be pilots, for physical products and documents. In the former case, the ideal candidate would be a manufacturer of Italian products entering a new market where the products are unfamiliar to the clients. In joining Speed Mi Up, Cryptobrand is looking for a kind of certification for itself (if our idea is accepted, it must be good, was their reasoning), new contacts and fast-track growth. In actual fact, contacts with those working against counterfeiting in the fashion and luxury supply chain sectors have proved useful.
