Marcel Proust’s madeleine cakes helped the write escape from the dark days of winter. Speed MI Up’s version serves to pool acquired experience and knowledge. It’s called Proust Therapy, and it involves knowledge-sharing sessions with this incubator’s startups.
Some of the most important things to be learned during the Proust Therapy sessions are the mistakes that have been made. Is offering free services advantageous, and the right thing to do? And if you don’t do it from the start, can you change your mind? Is it important to fill your internet platform with features? Or is it better to stay lean and flexible during your startup’s initial phase?
Even without madeleine cakes, Speed MI Up’s Proust Therapy is a great way to learn from other people’s experiences. Startuppers come away from these sessions with more knowledge and sometimes the advice of a good book. Not “In Search of Lost Time” but “Effectual Entrepreneurship” , in which Saras Sarasvath explains that entrepreneurs shouldn’t start out by focusing on a specific, goal-driven end, but that they should be means-driven; in other words, they should start with who they are and what they are able to do, and with the people they know.
