Smart Food is a project which started in late 2013 and began to take shape in mid-2014 with the site’s first release.
The goal was to create an online platform, among the first to use the .bio domain. This will become a network reference point for those who want to achieve and maintain good and healthy eating habits by eating organic food.
The intention is to develop an e-commerce site that goes beyond the simple concept of virtual storefront. Instead we wanted to offer customers the ability to shop, knowing that their purchase respects the fundamental principles for a healthy diet, such as seasonality, the balance and product mix in terms of energy and calories. All this is thanks to the support and cooperation of two Milan University professors.
Smart Food aims to improve the members’ diet, to make an easier and faster shopping routine by uniting the boxes of fruit and vegetables with many other complementary products such as pasta, sauces, bread and water. Everything is always and strictly organic.
In October, Smart Food visited the Barilla International contest for start-ups formed by young business people. Its selection and the subsequent victory are linked to the entrepreneurial idea, its strong potential, and to the passion and enthusiasm that Cesare and Marco managed to convey.
Today, Smart Food is focusing on revising the site’s structure including design and communication so that it conveys simply and intuitively its principles and values and to help it to grow rapidly in a booming industry.
Marco, graduated in Architecture from the Politecnico di Milano. He always loved the food sector and e-commerce, after an experience in an important Rome office, decided to indulge his passions, and return to Milan to devote himself to the project full time.
Cesare, graduated from the Politecnico di Milano as a Management Engineer, after about a year and a half at L’Oréal Business Development, he now works as a Product Manager in Privalia. Marco’s long-term friend, he accepted the challenge with him, using his management and e-commerce sector knowledge.
Together, the pair is a close-knit team, who firmly believe in the project and work for challenging and exciting goals.
